Championship Bracket: Cal 54, Texas 5

Texas gave Cal a quick wakeup call in their championship bracket opener, but the Cal Bears were too swift strong for Texas. Cal blew away the Longhorns by the score of 54-5 to move on to the second round.

Texas wasted no time in opening the scoring with a chance to advance to the second round of the championship bracket. Just 15 seconds in to the match the Longhorns scored with Eric Luikens getting a sneaky try past the Cal defense, but Cal stormed right back with a quick response by Daniel Barrett for a long try. Cal scored 21 straight points before the halftime break.

The Bears put the Longhorns away in the second half with Andrew Battaglia scoring an early try in the second half and Alex Aronson kicking the conversion for a 28-7 lead. Cal tacked on some more scores to assure themselves a spot in round two.

Cal will move on to play Dartmouth in the next round.

Thanks for pointing that out! I was reading the playoff pairings completely wrong. All errors have been fixed.

And I’m happy that those pairings are going to work out that way, because I would love to see Dartmouth and Life U meet up in the Championship Final. I think that would be a great match. Of course Cal and Life U would be fun to watch as well.
