Match 7: Army 10, Notre Dame 5

Notre Dame opened the scoring midway through the first half of a physical contest from the start. Bobby Manfreda worked his way in for the only try of the first half, giving Notre Dame a 5-0 lead at the break. Army’s Aaron Retter muscled his way in for a try midway through the second half, but a missed conversion kept the match tied at 5-5.

In the closing seconds Army and Notre Dame were in a massive pile up as Army was trying to push in for one more score, but needed to move the ball to the outside to an open player, with Marshall Moten finding enough open field to score and clinch a victory, 10-5.

Army’s next match will be against Navy at 5:02 in Match 19. Notre Dame will wrap up the second afternoon session in Match 20 against Cal.
