Match 15: Penn State 34, Temple 7

Penn State picked up their first win of the day, but it may not be enough to get them in to the championship bracket on Sunday. A 34-7 win against Temple moved Penn State in to third place in Pool A after a day’s worth of round robin action. Temple sits on the bottom without a win.

Penn State’s Dominic DeFalco opened the scoring with two straight scores, and Christopher Saint converted one time to put Penn State up 12-0 before Temple was able to move down field for their own try. Peter Mulville received credit for the Temple try as the Owls moved down the left sideline with a series of nice passes with no defenders able to interfere.

Penn State started to pull away in the second half though, with DeFalco picking up another try and Saint picking up a conversion following a Greg Voigt try, putting Penn State up 24-7 late.

Penn State and Temple will await to see who they will play next, as they are done for the day. The win ensures they will not be the fourth seed out of Pool A, while Temple’s 0-2-1 record will keep the hometown team in the fourth seed in Pool A. They will likely face either Florida or Delaware in the challenger round on Sunday.
